My name is Oksana Khanas. My husband Yuriy and I live in Lincolnwood, IL for one year in our beautiful home. I like it a lot because we have a huge garden and gardening is one of my hobbies. We came to USA 4 years ago and instantly fell in love with Chicago. I love this city because its not too busy like New York and not as slow like Cleveland, Ohio. We are married for 2 years now but been dating for 10 years before. First time we met in University in Lviv, where we got out Master Degree in Computer Engineering. Since then we are very happy together.

I was born and lived most of my life in Lviv, Ukraine. I love this old and charming European city. One would love it too when you see the pictures from Lviv. My father and mother live in small village 2 miles from Lviv. I also have an older brother, a sister-in-law and a nephew. They live in the same village close to my parents. I hope that someday they come to visit me in Chicago.

I obtained my Masters Degree in University Lviv Politekhnika. After the first year in University I decided that dont want to be a programmer and I started to study design program on my own. I work since I was 19. My first job was designer in publishing house. In two years I got a job in a magazine. My responsibilities were to create advertisements and layout for 80 full color pages magazine for 3 years. After that I start my own design studio where I work as a director and a designer. For the first 3 years I also made printing preparation. Now my company in Ukraine has 38 people and I still control its strategy from USA.

My first job in USA was a designer in local Ukrainian newspaper. It was a part time job while later my full time job became a general manager in Ukrainian American Education Foundation. I like this job very much. I learn a lot from people who work with me. I met many very interesting people. We organize conferences in different organizations about Ukraine, education in Ukraine and help Kyiv Mohyla Academy, one of the best universities in Ukraine, to arrange an agreement with Universities in Illinois, Kellog School of Business, Northwestern University, Columbia University and many others.

Two years ago I left my job in newspaper and started a new career. I decided that I want to try myself in something different in business management. Now I am vice president of IT in trading company. This job is much more interesting then design and for sure more payable.

In a future we have plans to develop our family and travel more since traveling it is our favorite hobby.

For four years we travel around USA. Last year we rented a car and traveled for 3 weeks around United States. We visited many major National Parks in USA. One can see a lot of pictures in my album about this trip. Every year we go skiing. We went to Colorado, Utah, California, Nevada and Wisconsin. We try to never go to the same place twice, because the World is so big and there is so much else to see out there.
